MILAN — At MM6 Maison Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2027 show, the most talked-about item was not a coat or a dress. It was a flip-flop with six toes.
The collaboration with Brazilian brand Havaianas turned the house’s long-running obsession with the number 6 into literal footwear. Two versions appeared: the Slim 6Toe (retail) and the Top 6Layers (runway-only stacked platform).

How the Collaboration Works
The Slim 6Toe reshapes the familiar rubber sole around a foot that has an extra digit, embedding the number 6 directly into the silhouette. The Top 6Layers stacks six differently shaped Havaianas soles into an uneven platform. The commercial collection is scheduled to launch in May 2027. Only the Slim 6Toe is planned for retail.
Why the Number Six Matters
Martin Margiela assigned the number 6 to the diffusion line in 1997. This season the number became a sixth toe and six stacked soles — the most public and playful expression of that idea yet.
