LOS ANGELES — A news helicopter operated for NBC4 and Telemundo 52 crashed in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles on Tuesday evening while covering a nearby fatal bus collision, killing the pilot, an aerial photojournalist, and one person on the ground.
The aircraft, known as NewsChopper4, went down between commercial buildings and erupted in flames shortly before 7 p.m. Pilot George Marciniw and photojournalist Eliana Moreno were among those killed. The NTSB and FAA are investigating the cause.
Ongoing Investigation
The crash occurred roughly two hours after a Metro bus and passenger vehicle collision that itself left two people dead. Emergency crews responded quickly to both scenes.
